Reg: Sanction of Flood Relief Advance to employees affected by the devastating floods in Chennai and adjoining Districts in Tamilnadu.
You are well aware of the devastation and damages to lives and properties to the people in Chennai and adjoining Districts like Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Cuddalore caused by the unprecedented rains ( record in last 119 years) and floods from the overflowing tanks. While the city and other affected areas are limping back to normal life, we are concerned that along with the entire community of people, bank employees also have been severely affected. Many of them have lost their entire domestic belongings like cots, beddings, dining table, cooking oven, fridge, television set, chairs and tables, sofa, kitchen utensils, etc besides losing their entire clothing which have been washed away in the flood. Some of them had to runaway to safety and had to stay in relief camps for 3 to 4 days as their houses were fully submerged in water. Even the motorbikes/scooters of many employees have been washed away or have become junk since they were marooned under water for 3 days. It is no exaggeration to say that many of them have to start their lives afresh from the scratch.
In such distressing conditions, it is necessary that Bank managements extend necessary financial assistance to them with interest free loan or advance. We seek your help to immediately issue an advisory to all the Banks to extend such financial assistance to the affected employees.
