The service lane leading to the YMCA had been spruced up. A security guard at the venue gate said: “Saab, andar koi nahi hain, kis se milna hain? (there is nobody inside, who do you want to meet?).”
Asked about the wedding on Tuesday, he said: “Woh sub humko maloom nahi hain (I don’t know all that).”
When contacted, a BJP leader close to Shah said: “How do you know the preparations may not happen late in the night or early morning for security reasons?”
The leader further added: “Hundreds of rooms have already been booked in hotels in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar for the VVIP guests, including senior BJP leaders and big names in political and business circles.”
Shah landed in Ahmedabad on Saturday evening after polling for the Delhi elections concluded.
According to BJP sources, Shah will host a grand reception party for the newly-wed couple which is expected to see a whopping 3,000 guests at the plush Karnavati Club on the SG Highway.
Invites for the reception have also been sent out to Gujarat BJP leaders and party workers from Shah’s Naranpura Assembly constituency in Ahmedabad. Shah’s close friends and relatives are overseeing the preparations for the marriage and reception.
